SMI - Strategic Medicine, US partner do projektů FP7
Významná americká společnost působící v oblasti v širokém spektru biomedicínského výzkumu:
1. SMI is leading programs in drug safety and toxicology prediction for ASAT, the Dutch national program to reduce/eliminate animal testing and will be implementing both the overall system infrastructure/data model and analytics
2. SMI is working on the Lifelines Program (Groningen, NL) which is following 200,000 individuals with full clinical, imaging, psychological and bio-specimens over 30 years and will be establishing the infrastructure and analytics for this across all diseases
3. SMI is working with MIHGH, EMHS and Jackson Lab (Maine) to establish a lung cancer and breast cancer bio-repository and patient data for evaluation of risk due to the interactions of environment, lifestyle and genetics with geo-monitoring of radon, dioxin, EDC’s, etc in multi-generational families
4. SMI is developing a “An Adaptive Knowledge Platform” (with Mayo Clinic, Medical Decision Logix and Endepus) to support the identification of critical clinical gaps for pharmaceutical and diagnostic researchers and for reimbursement decisions, with an emphasis on improving patient management. Initial applications are protocols, patient management, biomarkers, diagnostics, costs and QOL issues in the use of Herceptin and aromatase Inhibitors in breast cancer
5. SMI is working with a “pharmaceutical company” and the American Liver Foundation to improve diagnostics, care management and identify new biomarkers in hepatitis B and C and their progression to hepatocellular carcinoma
6. SMI is leading a consortium of 80 children’s hospitals and ICU’s in the area of pediatric acute lung injury and sepsis, including ARDS, to establish a tissue and data repository for use in stratifying the disease syndrome, improving diagnosis for improving treatment, and identifying factors associated with risk and early prevention.
7. SMI is working within an international consortium, PONTE (EU 7th Framework grant) that focuses on development of ontologies to develop clinical trials, identify and recruit patients and enable adaptive trial design to improve clinical trial success rates
8. SMI is working in 2 additional EU 7th framework projects: 1) creating an ontology to map clinical practice to underlying molecular data, e.g. genomics, proteomics, sequence, and clinical practice guidelines; and 2) development of a toxicology data/sample repository called ToxBank which complements our work with ASAT
se zkušeností s rámcovými programy projevila zájem o spolupráci s českými partnery různého zaměření.
